my artist profile
.
I found that a middle aged man was more suitable for the
lead role than a middle aged female because males are stereotypically more aggressive
and are stronger characters so seeing him controlled by the drugs is even more
compelling to watch. I think that if I had used a woman I would of lost the
intensity of the footage when he slams the milk down or falls over. I picked an
older age instead of using a younger male with higher sex appeal as i was
telling a story of life so by using a older male it adds realism to my video.
question 3
This is my audience feedback the main findings were that,
more males watched the video than females this could have been because it is
very male orientated with the artist being male and the use of the motorbike.
18-22 were the main age group that watched it this means
that i hit my target audice and that i constructed it efficiently.
The main hobby was spending time with friends this suggests
that my audience are sociable and have time to catch up.
80 percent said that they liked my video
The positive feedback of good use of effects and creativeness
gave the feeling that i had used the software premiere pro effectively.
some of the comments to improve were to add in more miming
and to shorten the length of the video, I have taken this in to account and in
the future if I create another music video I will shorten the time down to 2:30
if possible also I will add in more of the artist creating a direct address to
the audience. The audience did respond in the way that I expected them to
however I did find it interesting that more males watched the video but for
this to be looked into further I would need a larger sample to look at. Also
some feedback was that they did not like the black and white shots I guess looking
back on this it took away some of the realism from the music video but it was
never intended to be a serious take on the subject matter more to create
awareness in a fun way.

This is my digipak I kept to the house style of using the pop art images of the eyes and the lips as i thought it brought all of my products together.I also wanted to keep the black and white colour scheme but again just adding splashes of colour to maintain that rebellious streak. The lettering i used swirly elegant lettering with a line going through it as if it is mocking the upper class ,as these fonts are often used in classical magazines and digipaks.I wanted to further break the conventions of a digipak by distorting the image on the right hand side ,challenging the conventions as the photos are normally perfectly placed. hand side giving it a quirky feel. This also supports the theme of my album as it is demonstrating the effects of substance abuse by making the face thinner and the head larger as if it were going to explode. The image on the top left side I decided to take at a birds eye view to show the desperation that his journey has led him to and that he is on his knees arms spread out looking up as if to say just take me.I found the pop art pieces very time consuming and fiddly trying to cut them out in photoshop. Also editing the images was tricky as i didn't want them to steel the focus too much so it was hard finding the right balance.I really enjoyed creating this product and felt that after getting over a few hurdles ,such as getting the right photograph and the right font that it went well overall.
This music video belongs to the song "I want your sex" by George Michael.Looking at this music video in 2015 most audience would fin it tame and not controversial in the slightest. However this music video was released in the 80s an with it containing nudity, blind folds and sexulising women. It came across as pushing the boundaries and it offended lot of audiences. This just shows that looking at the content today copared to this video that we have almost become numb to it as an audience and because of this it is harder to shock people with the content of a music video.

This is my finished Poster, I used print media to promote "The Saboteurs" new album "Mad Smiles" in the music industry this would up sell and increase sale figures, so even though it costs money to make it is cost effective.
I looked at other posters from the Indie Rock genre they tend to have rugged looking lettering giving it the connotations of recklessness, reaching out to their target audience of teenagers as they have a iconography of being reckless and rebelling against the rules. This is exactly what the poster is doing as it is breaking the conventions of a poster with the images overlaying each other in a messy but slick house style. I used the black and white colours to show the dark themes of the music genre that are often related to sex, drugs and other teen related issues. However the bursts of colour in a pop art style portray the band as fun and current. The poster as a whole is very dramatic and in your face this is done so it grabs potential buyer’s attention creating a possible sell. I took lots of different photographs at different angles, I decided to go for a close up shot to create direct address with the audience and the angle should be head on so the audience feels like they are equal to the artist.
I struggled to find a suitable background for my poster as I didn’t want it to become to overpowering and the main focus however a block colour looked to formal for the Indie rock genre. I decided to take some photos of the crowd of a band I went to see, this worked well after manipulating the image on Photoshop polarising and creating shadowing to make the image more subtle. The images of eyes and lips went well as I think it gives the poster its own stamp and adds personality instead of it just being informative. I created these images by taking photographs of people’s eyes and lips and then cutting out the bits i need and then going on to change the colour and contrast on Photoshop, creating distorted images that break the conventional norms of how we expect everyday things such as eyes to look. I carried on this house style in my Digipak also.
